There is so much speculation about the upcoming mid term election. There is even more speculation about the 2012 presidential election. There is a lot of smart speculation and even more idiotic speculation (I'm talking to you Joe Biden).

So let's take a break from all that and make a fantasy federal government. Just like fantasy baseball or football. If you could put together your fantasy fed what would it look like?

President: Sarah Palin

VP: Newt Gingrich (also a good Sec. of State choice.)

Attorney General: Rudy Guiliani

Treasury Secretary: Peter Schiff (Ron Paul would be another good choice)

Speaker of the House: Michele Bachmann

Worst case senario

Anyone who thinks for themselves knows liberal socialism and redistribution are simply not sustainable. A great number of Americans are fed up and have been expressing it more vocally than in years past. Before we talked to friends, we wrote letters, but we believed the people would be smart enough not to keep sending the jokers back to DC. Now we don't have that faith. We have taken to the streets in the form or Tea parties and other demonstrations. We've confronted our “representatives” at town hall style meetings and it terrified them. So my question is this, what happens if we fail? I don't mean this to be a pessimistic posting. This is an “expect the best, prepare for the worst” senerio.

I myself am not convinced we can be saved. My personal jury is still out on whether we can take what we have and improve it or if we have to wait and rebuild from the ashes. November will be a big tell tale sign of whether we can or not. If conservatives make gains, not old style republicans who covet power but the new thinking conservatives who value the Constitution and freedom. If true freedom loving people are elected, to me, that means the American people are awake and learning. But what if they don't.

If we wake up the day after the election and Nancy Pelosi has been empowered instead of taken down a peg, what then? Is the country savable? What do the rest of us do? What is the next step? Simply going to the next election may not be the answer. The answer may be to step back and let them pass all the unsustainable legislature they can. The faster they do it the faster we rebuild. Atlas is Shrugging. If the liberals make gains, how do we react? Who is John Galt?

The Declaration of Independence outlines a series of grievances against the King. This was so important that the colonist thought they needed to end their allegiance to the crown and form a new country. How would our founding Fathers view America today? Let's see if all the grievances have been corrected.

He has refused to pass other laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of representation in the legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures. His czars fit nicely into this category.

He has dissolved representative houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.

He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the legislative powers, incapable of annihilation, have returned to the people at large for their exercise; the state remaining in the meantime exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.

He has endeavored to prevent the population of these states; for that purpose obstructing the laws for naturalization of foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migration hither, and raising the conditions of new appropriations of lands. Unfortunately just the opposite. He has tried to flood the country with new liberals from all over the world.

He has erected a multitude of new offices, and sent hither swarms of officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance. Not even debatable. Czars, he's increased the IRS by thousands. He uses the unions such as the SEIU to harrass the people.

He has kept among us, in times of peace, standing armies without the consent of our legislature. Apparently bad for Bush to have a war in the Middle East but not for barry.

He has affected to render the military independent of and superior to civil power.

He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his assent to their acts of pretended legislation: His administration has embraced the small arms treaty in the UN as well as other UN activities that are in direct opposition to our own Constitution. He has also encouraged his judges to look to foreign law.

For quartering large bodies of armed troops among us: His civilian corps (pronounced core, not corps) that he wants to form.

For protecting them, by mock trial, from punishment for any murders which they should commit on the inhabitants of these states: See New Black Panther party.

For cutting off our trade with all parts of the world: Through economic turmoil. Nobody wants to trade with us and we have nothing to trade.

Enforcing the law, a novel idea.

The topic on talk radio the past few days has been filled with talk about the new law in Arizona. This bill tasks local and state law enforcement with upholding federal law. It does not create any new mandates. What really bothers me is all the fear-mongering and hysteria. As a cop I take offense to those who believe that this law will create a hostile atmosphere of racial profiling. Are there racist out there? There sure are. Do some of them slip through the process and get hired as cops? Some do. Here's what you may not realize, a racist doesn't need a law to be racist. If someone is going to pull a person over based on race, they're going to do with with or without a law.

We don't sit in our cruisers thinking about how to screw people over. We're fathers and mothers, husbands and wives who are working round the clock shifts to feed our families and live a good life.

If a cop wasn't going to racial profile before this law, he or she isn't going to do so after this law. Also this law is only applicable during an otherwise lawful encounter with someone. Therefore you only need two things to prevent you from being a victim of this law, one, to quote Jim Carry in Liar Liar "Stop breaking the law, ass hole." and two be here legally. If you're not here illegally, you can't be deported so stop complaining. And if you don't break the law, you won't be stopped in the first place.

I know that advice might be too much common sense for some people.

I don't get to listen to talk radio much with my schedule. I catch pieces here and there. I happened to be in the car this afternoon and heard Rush talking about an L3C. A new form or Limited Liability Corporation that provides benefits for companies whose goal is "socially driven endeavors". So basically state governments are eliminating capitalism, which has build this country to what it was in it's heyday. Without a profit motive people are less likely to create a competitive product. This is a perfect example of that. If social businesses were viable they wouldn't need this at all. They wouldn't be considered low profit. It comes down to the ancient axiom, "build a better mousetrap and the world will beat a path to your door." Unfortunately it's becoming more like have a government subsidized inferior mousetrap and they'll change the rules so you can eliminate competition for a better product.

In her magnum opus, Ayn Rand shows what would happen when people with no ability to produce or compete are given an artificial boost. This doesn't level the playing field, this eliminates the playing field. A field denotes competition where the better team/person wins and the other has to either accept it or make himself better. This eliminates the drive to better oneself, it is a breeding ground for mediocracy.

A group of people got together and called their gathering a national Tea party convention. I have some misgivings about that. I have participated in many tea parties. I'm not sure I like the idea of a "national" group. It seems that runs counter to what the movement was supposed to be about. There was a good piece about it here. The title says it all, do we have to take the tea party movement back now?

Don't get me wrong, the tea parties are needed today, but with one voice and a national image it is bound for the same corruption others have fallen into. It worked much better as a gathering. A group of people who share beliefs. We meet online and organize when needed. There are state groups and local groups. The whole idea of the TEA party (Taxed Enough Already) started with Rick Santelli cutting loose a year ago about high government spending. That should be the entry for Tea party association, do you believe in less government? Do you want less spending and more free markets? If yes, you are a part of the movement. You shouldn't need a membership card from thi new group.

There are some who think the tea party idea was Ron Pauls. But let's not forget he got the idea from our forefathers. This particular movement was not a growth from Rep. Paul's campaign strategy, but from Santelli's passionate outburst.

I still think Sarah Palin is the best hope for this nation. But it may have been a mistake for her to speak at this convention. She should have waited to see what this group is going to be. Do they still hold the values of the original movement? Because that is what the Tea parties are, a movement, not a group. Unfortunately this gathering in Nashville may have started changing that. Palin added legitimacy to this group they haven't earned yet. Her speech was right on target. It will be panned by people who have prejudged her but she had some great points. My only problem would be she may have been better off giving it at CPAC instead.

Whatever happens should play out soon. I hope the Tea parties we knew still exist. But even if they don't it doesn't mean our beliefs change. We still need to stand up to big government and reckless spending.

Are these people insane? Yes, yes they are.

Baby It's Cold Outside

We're getting ready for another round of winter weather this weekend. And while one storm or one reading does not make or break the trend of the weather. We need to seriously rethink how we view what was once called global warming and now is called climate change.

First let's take the name change in general. The fact that the alarmist have stopped calling it global warming is, in and of itself, a big shot to the theory. Second, and the biggest is what's being called Climategate (I HATE that every scandal has to have the suffix 'gate'). Science is an exact science, pun intended. That means it depends on strict rules and guidelines. The initial problems with the first Climategate researchers is that they didn't just ignore the rules, they weren't lazy and take shortcuts, they followed all the rules. And when the data obtained by following the strict set of scientific rules, they changed them. Then they hid the evidence. If someone is suspected of a crime and we find out they hid evidence our suspicion usually rises. When you realize that the bulk of all research in the generation that followed relied almost exclusively on that flawed data you can only conclude that EVERYTHING we though we knew about global warming is wrong.

But wait, There's more! Since the first scandal broke we've found many other examples of climate fraud. And each example more ignored by the mainstream than the first. We found the glaciers are not melting, it was a hoax perpetrated by the WWF (not the wrestling organization, where we would expect hoaxes but a wildlife foundation) and the IPCC (A UN organization, what a shock). We found out the Russians faked climate data and didn't follow scientific guidelines but instead picked the data that supported their claim and buried exculpatory evidence. The horrendous Kyoto Treaty was based on this study. And not to be outdone, our own government had to get in on the act as well.

The only moral thing to do is to scrape all climate data and start over with strict oversight. If we are going to spend billions, or even trillions, trying to fix a problem, shouldn't we make sure we have a problem first? Let's stand by the old maxim, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. (And don't pretend it is broke). Now, give me back my incandescent bulbs.

Stop asking, Do tell

Ok, so here is where I have to break rank with too many of my conservative friends. Why is anyone against gays serving in the military? Seriously, do you really think that there are no gays serving now? Would you negate the heroism they've shown so far?

If someone loves their country enough to risk his or her life for it I say let them. More importantly, I say "Thank you". Anyone who puts his or her life on the line is protecting me and my family. They;'re protecting you and your family.

If you believe in limiting the way government rules our lives, if you want smaller less government, how can you support such a wide sweeping rule? Moreover, any laws should serve to protect us, but this makes us weaker as a notion on the national security front. First by limiting those who could serve the country, we are at war still. And second by undermining the trust our uniformed men and women have in each other by forcing them to hide their lives from each other.

According to this poll, conducted by ultra left leaning DailyKos, more people responded that Sarah Palin was better qualified to be president than Barry Soetoro, aka Barak Hussein Obama.

I guess this means there is hope for the American people yet. Sarah Palin ran a state with a budget surplus while the rest of the nation was going down the tubes. Barry is determined to spend away any hope of salvaging this once great nation. Sarah talks to us, Barry talks down to us. Sarah speaks from the heart, Barry needs his teleprompter. Sarah stood up to both parties and took on corrupt politicians all while raising five kids, one with special needs. Barry appoints tax cheats and communists to his cabinet. He uses the czar appointments to circumvent the Constitution. Sarah believes in America, Barry apologizes for it.

Is Sarah Palin more qualified to be president over obama? You Bet'cha.
